Mom continues to improve a little at a time, she even tried to throw a pillow at Mike tonight! She had more muscle movement and was able to carry on more conversations today, so everyone is encouraged. The plan is to continue the 5 day treatment of IGG, monitor her respiratory function and heart rate, work on her digestive problems and manage her pain. The information we received yesterday regarding the plan to release her to a rehab facility after 5 days was from a resident, not her doctor. She will most likely remain at Chandler until the following week sometime or longer, depending on her rate of recovery. They will begin rehab there, and then move her to a rehab facility - hopefully closer to home. The doctors expect it to take weeks or even months before she is able to walk.
Mike was able to charm Mom into eating some today! She ate more today than she has in over a week. We were all able to visit with her at different times during the day and she went an extra 2 hours between pain meds. Beth & Cindy bought her a memory foam mattress for her hospital bed to make her more comfortable.
It was a full day of visitors, Matt & Leah drove from North Carolina and were able to visit with her for a short time today, it was the first time Mom met Matt's wife and she was very pleased. It has been nice to have so many people to allow rotating shifts in visiting Mom. I know that Mom and Jim (Pop) really appreciate all of the outpouring of love and support from all of the family and friends. As soon as we are able, we will take a laptop in and show mom all of the comments.
It is 2am here so forgive the punchy post..... Oh, one more thing. We do not have cell service in the basement room where Mom resides (an old section of the hospital).
Jeanne, Deb and Cindy, Thank you so much for all the updates, it is greatly appreciated. The kids and I are praying and we have our church praying for her as well. I am so glad they have figured out what she has so they can start treating it. Tell her we love her.
