Rehab.....and a little note from Mom

Mom had her first night and day in rehab.  Jim, Cindy + kids and I arrived at HealthSouth at 3:30 today and mom was in the shower getting her hair washed.  We went to the little outside area with the kids and the nurse brought mom out for a visit in the wheelchair.  We all settled in there for a while, had a nice visit and mom suggested we all stay around for dinner and maybe do some take out.  I don't think she was thrilled about what was on her dinner menu for the evening!  Cindy and Jim went out for some KFC and we ate ouside with Mike and Kim joining us for a visit with Mom.  After dinner, mom was ready for a nice walk - there is a beautiful lake that spreads out for miles next to the center.  We walked with the kids, found a nice knoll to sit on top of overlooking the lake while the kids rolled down the hill.  Mom was relaxed and really enjoyed the time outside talking and enjoying the children.

We tucked her back into bed about 7:30, all said our goodbyes and left her by 8pm.  Other than a rough start to her day with a delay in her pain meds (she told us she was planning her escape about that time, trying to figure out how to get to Cardinal Hill Rehab back in Lexington!), the doctor arrived and rescheduled her pain meds so that she would not have to suffer in the morning hours and through rehab schedules.

All in all, it was a good day - she was in good spirits and wanted to make sure that I included this note from her:

"Thank you all so much for all of your kind words, phone calls, cards and comments on the computer.  I love and miss you all so much and really want to make sure you know how much I appreciate and love you all."

Debbie and or Cindy will be updating the blog since they will be seeing mom quite often. I am headed back home in the morning.....

Hugs to all,
Jeanne
