Monday 9:05

Today we took shifts sitting with Mom. I think Pop went in first followed by Beth and Cindy. Jeanne and I got there in time for Pop to head home. Jeanne is still there and will stay the night if Mike and Kim don't get to feeling better. Mom has continued to show improvements. She is still being monitored and received another dose of IGG. Pop and I and Mom were laughing pretty hard. She had us chasing ants around her room. The great thing is that we were laughing with her not at her.

She was very feisty tonight, but had lots of smiles and even laughed a bit. Jeanne could not see the ants and Mom did not believe her. I of course saw them all and was even able to tell her the color of them. (Lucky guesses!) After Pop left, we watched a movie and during the movie, Mom kept thinking she had something in her hand and was throwing it across the room. About every third time she would say "oh no, that went way over there!" Jeanne and I tried hard to remain serious and tell her it was okay they would clean it up. It felt good to be able to laugh at silly things with her and even to be the recipient of her normal little temper flares.

The hallucinations are of course from the pain medications. They switch off between percocet and morphine, but she did not want any pain meds tonight when the nurse said it was time for them. She enjoyed a Doris Day movie that Jeanne put on her laptop. Jeanne and I were trying to figure out who Doris Day's costar was and so Jeanne asked Mom and after a few minutes she popped out with his name. So her mind is still sharp behind those drug induced memory losses and confusion.

Mom fed herself tonight, a few bites but still amazing progress from where she was a few days ag0. She is still having digestive problems and they are working on that. Well I am going to bed before I fall asleep. Keep those prayers coming.

P.S. by Jeanne....she ended up watching 2 Doris Day movies with us and playing a game of Gin Rummy (where she shamelessly cheated to win).  As Debbie said, she was quite feisty today and went over 10 hours between any pain meds.  We are so hopeful that the worst is past.

  1. So relieved. Thank God for the diagnosis. We'll continue to pray for a speedy recovery. Love to all the family and much gratitude for those who are able to be there for Grandma.
