Today was a great day for Mom. We didn't get there until about 11, wanting to give her time to wake up and get the sleep aid out of her system. When we got there she had her bed in an almost upright position sitting semi sideways with her knees and legs up. She was very comfortable and had gotten there by herself. She had Prime Rib for lunch and did very well feeding herself. Her upper arm strength is getting better every day. She can pull her upper body up to about 90 degrees now, when she isn't too tired. She was a little tearful off and on thinking she was too much trouble for everyone. She wanted to sit on the edge of the bed, so we got her bed situated so she could. She refused our help and worked at it for about an hour till she got her feet over the edge. Mike then got her in a chair and then into a wheelchair. She was ecstatic! He wheeled her all around the 6th floor and then to a window area for some sunshine. Needless to say, Mom loved it and did not want to get back in bed. Anyway, this has been her best day yet. We brought her a little Chinese food and she even managed to get a couple bites using chopsticks. She has not had any pain pills all day and when we left her at 9:30 she was watching a movie.
They are limiting her fluid intake and still monitoring her heart and breathing, but no IV. Tomorrow she will be evaluated for a couple of rehab centers. We are hoping for one close to home in Elizabethtown, but if they won't take her, then it will be the one in Lexington. When I called the Cardinal Hill Rehab Center (on Versailles) they said there visiting hours are 8-8 and children are able to visit also. The one in E-town has visiting hours from 4:30 - 8 and drats I can't remember what they said about kids visiting so will call on that again tomorrow. Until then, night to all and keep praying.
Love,
Deb
