Saturday

Cindy called me this morning after talking with Mom. Mom had a really bad night and was ready to leave. They did not get her medications to her until the middle of the night. That throws everything out of kilter for her. The Director yesterday explained to me that they are not a hospital like HealthSouth. They are a nursing facility. So things are done differently and I believe meds have to be ordered by the doctor and then they are delivered in individual dose packets already labeled with Mom's name. I think that was what the holdup was. Anyway, she was sick to her stomach this morning, I am sure due to the medication delay.

We had planned a tea party with her as a surprise for the oldest 4 grandchildren/great grandchildren. We weren't sure about keeping the plan, but by the time Cindy got here, we had decided it might be better to go ahead as it would give Mom something to lift her spirits. She loves having the kids around. So Cindy went with her two girls and Rachel took her oldest two girls. They had set it all up in the dining room. Mom enjoyed it and although she did not eat anything, she had a cup of tea. Then she went back to her room as she wasn't feeling well. After the tea party Sophie and Shylo stayed with Mom and Jim while Cindy went to do a little shopping for Mom. Rachel had to take her girls as she was clothes shopping for them. Cindy said Mom was doing better when she went back to get the girls. Cindy wrote down a few phone numbers for her and showed her how to call out on the phone.

As far as I know she will start therapy on Monday morning and there will be a meeting at 11 on Monday to talk about goals and her discharge date. So hopefully I will know more then. Keep praying!

  1. Thanks for the update Deb! When I talked with mom this afternoon (evening her time) she sounded good and more upbeat - I am sure that getting the meds straightened out helped alot. It also gave her peace of mind to know that she could call out anytime day or night if needed.
