I received a call from Mom and Jim, Kensington Manor was going to have to discharge her today because the insurance company wouldn't approve them. Since I have been helping them with their insurance information, they asked me to follow up to find out what is going on. I spoke with the insurance company, HealthSouth Rehab and Kensington Manor, evidently there is a mixup in what kind of care is needed and so the insurance denied her.
The process that is happening now is this: Dr. Abang from Healthsouth has to do a Peer to Peer call to the Dr. at the insurance company with his evaluation. If necessary, Dr. Godfrey (who has not seen mom yet) from Kensington Manor will need to do an evaluation tomorrow and do a Peer to Peer call with his evaluation. I will be following up in the morning with everyone to make sure it has all been covered and that the insurance company has everything they need in order to make the decision (to cover her of course).
This is really a sad picture of red tape and miscommunication. I am hopeful that all this will work out for the best and mom will continue to stay where she needs to be. More tomorrow.....
