The sky is not falling......mom is getting better and is encouraged by the progress (as slow as it seems). I spoke with her several times yesterday and then again this morning, she had a pretty good night even with the back pain. She and Jim purchased some hot/cold patches to use when the pain is bad at night and so they used them last night and it seems as though they helped. She was encouraged about that and the fact that she switched up some of her pain meds yesterday to change the timing of them. It seemed to help and she is hopeful that it will help her get through the next few days until her Dr. visit on Tuesday. We know that Dr. Lightner (neurologist) will most likely change her meds then.
As Debbie said, the home health care agency is sending a nurse to see mom today. I spoke with her this morning and she was wonderful (Sandra). She seemed to think mom was in the same room with her mom at Health South for a few days and knew about the Guillain Barre. She will do an evaluation for mom today around noon (right now in fact), and stay away from evaluating her PT & OT since mom is getting her therapy as an outpatient. We are still unclear about the insurance benefits for both home care and outpatient, so we want to be very cautious about not duplicating services. She was very cooperative about that and I think Debbie will be there when it happens so we'll get some first hand reporting from her later I am sure.
That's it for now....mom is checking emails as often as she can, so feel free to drop her a line. She can't always respond or read them all at one sitting, but she is trying.
Mom would like to thank you all for reading this and keeping her in your prayers, she is so encouraged by the outpouring of love and concern for her. She would also like to ask that you keep Aunt Barbara and Aunt Deanna in your thoughts and prayers, they are both going through some difficult health problems.
