I spoke with Debbie and here is a recap/update on Mom:
Her systems are stable, meaning she is not on any kind of "life support"
The doctors are still uncertain about what is going on with her. Due to the pain, she is on morphine and that means she can't move around. Since she is not moving, she is having more muscle pain. She has a physical therapist coming in later to walk her around and get her body moving some. They have to wait for physical therapy to do that since she is so completely immobile. The doctor would like that to happen 2x a day for now.
She is still not eating anything to speak of and when she does, she is nauseas - so she is terribly weak and thus a vicious cycle goes on. Numbness, weakness, pain, meds, nausea.
At this point, they are still treating her for Lyme Disease although the results are still not back from that test. They are beginning to think that she does not have it, but until they know for sure, they will treat it. She is also on an antibiotic for a tooth abscess and 2 other antibiotics along with anti-nausea, anti-depressent and a few other meds that I can't remember. They took blood this morning to test for Parvo, Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), so the doctors continue to try and rule out diseases to find what is going on. She has had x-rays, CT scans and various other tests, she has a regular doctor with oversight working with an Infectious Disease dr., a neurologist, and other specialists working on her case.
Well, I think that is enough reading for now....Cindy and Debbie are in contact with her doctors (as well as Jim) and will post here whenever they find out anything new. All of us "kids" have posting rights to this blog, so please update if you speak with Mom and want to share anything with us.
xoxo
